Imatib 400 mg Tablet is used to treat and prevent the growth of certain types of cancers of the blood cells, stomach, intestine, bone marrow, and skin.
Imatib works by interfering with the action of certain proteins to help prevent cancer cells from spreading and to prevent them from multiplying. The active ingredient imatinib is an anticancer type of medication classified as a kinase inhibitor.
It can be used to treat certain types of cancer such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors, leukemia and dermamtofibrosarcoma protuberans when the tumor cannot be removed surgically, has come back after surgery or has spread to other parts of the body.
Imatib is used for treating certain types of leukemia, certain bone marrow diseases, a certain type of skin cancer, and certain intestinal tumors (eg, gastrointestinal stromal tumors [GIST]). It may also be used to prevent cancer from growing in patients after surgical removal of GIST.
Imatib should be taken as directed by a doctor, usually once or twice per day. The tablets should be taken with a full glass of water along with a meal. Patients who cannot swallow the tablets whole, can dissolve the tablet in a glass of apple juice or water to be taken as a liquid. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s weight, condition and response to the therapy.
Imatinib (Imatib) is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Tyrosine kinases are important proteins in the body that regulate how cells grow and divide. Imatinib cancer medication blocks the activity of this enzyme, which delivers a signal that causes cells to multiply. By blocking this enzyme, Imatib can help stop the spread of cancer cells.
Imatib 400mg Tablet is an anti-cancer medication. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps to stop or slow the spread of cancer cells.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Imatib 400mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Hypersensitivity to Imatib Tablet is a contraindication. In addition, Imatib 400mg Tablet should not be used if you have the following conditions:
- Liver, kidney or heart problems
- Weight gain
- Missed Dose:
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, then the missed dose can be skipped. Contact your physician for further instructions if you miss more than one scheduled dose of this medicine.
Contact your physician immediately if an overdose with this medicine is suspected. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin allergies, tiredness, fever, etc.
Imatib 400mg may bring about undesirable reactions, for example,
